Description and Narrative:
The Sedona & Pacific was created when Frank burke, president and owner of Tule Springs and Western Railroad wanted to extend his railroad from Tule Springs to the mining are of Nelsen in the SW corner of Nevada
After great studies, it was decided to build this branch in narrow gauge and construct an interchange at Tule Springs. The decision was due to the terrain of the countryside to get to Nelsen. In the process of building this extension, tunnels were needed to obtain passage to the rich Nelsen area. While cutting these tunnels in this area a product was unearthed that proved to be a great aset to our country.
This product that was unearthed was the mineral Dirtalite. Dirtalite was found to be a very useful product. This product was found to be useful in construction, land fills, exportation to other countries that have no dirt as in Antartica. Dirtalite was also found to used in politics, as politicians use a lot of dirt.
Frank Burke decided to process this Dirtalite and also decided to mine and ship this product from an area now known as Burke, Nevada. This product was then shipped by the Sedona & Pacific to the city of Tule Springs, where it was processed and packaged.
This Dirtalite proved to be a great boom period for the Nelsen and Tule Springs area of Southern Nevada and Frank Burke became a great leader in the Southern Nevada area for railroaders and business alike.
