Rialto, Diablo & Arizona RR Back to layouts
Owner: Sue Jerrems
Scale: G and some very interesting Full Scale Equipment
Description:
Sue and her husband were avid collectors of other peoples disgarded items and absolute treasures in the eyes of railroad fans and modelers. This property is loaded with all sorts of memorable collectables, including and certainly not limited to the following: An old Critter Locomotive with a unique cab (see photo), misc. rail, ties, spikes, plates, signals, pot bellied Pig (not considered railroad), and much more. Add to this the enjoyment of her Garden Railroads, hospitality, and the beautiful garden setting of her backyard smack in the middle of a residential area. But wait, I haven't mentioned the Full size Union Pacific Caboose and Amtrack passenger Car which has been converted into a very well stocked Library (see photo below).
Her husband had seen the Amtrak Car waisting away on another property and approached the owner and said he would be willing to take off his hands for one dollar. $6,000 dollars later and a lot of special moving equipment, utility company involvement (seems like it didn't want to fit under all those phone lines, etc.), the Amtrack Car arrived to the astonishment of the neighborhood.
Be sure to find time to stop by this paradise in the afternoon...exact day to be announced. That's Sue in the upper left frame and our Carl Heimberger making off with free food in the lower right. The Garden Railway Society of Las Vegas meet at different members homes once a month to enjoy the comardery of their fellow modelers. And I mean a hole bunch of them.
