Convention Highlights


Wednesday


Registration Begins
Noon until 8:00pm
Company Store 3:00pm until 8:00pm
Not only can you register at the beautiful Registration Desk, but you will be able to shop at the Country Store at the far right of the Desk area. You will also find all of the Great Raffle items available for viewing and ticket purchases. Remember, the more tickets you purchase the better your chances of winning. So come back to the desk frequently during the Convention.

Lynn Austin's Layouts
Noon until 5:00pm

So, you arrived early and thought there would be nothing to do. Wrong, venture out to Lynn Austin's home and enjoy the comradery of fellow modelers.

Welcome Mixer
6:00pm until 'Bowling for Trains' is Finished
This year's Welcome Mixer will be held downstairs in the Bowling Alley. The 'Bowling for Trains' lanes will be near the Cocktail Lounge and you are all encouraged to Rout for your favorite team and/or Division.
(The Welcome mixer is not an Extra Fare)

Bowling for Trains
7:00pm until 10:00pm
This is a First for any PSR Convention. We are teaming up Division members to challenge other Divisions in a Bowling Showdown. There is also plenty of room for Clubs, and Individual teams as well. Model Railroad Prizes will be given for High Scores, Division Winners, and things like the most Gutter Balls. Hoover Dam Tour
7:30am until 2:00pm
For an in-depth, educational experience, the Discovery Tour of Hoover Dam is for you. On the way home, stop off at Ethel M Chocolate Factory and Botanical Cactus Gardens. More information on the Bus Tours page.

Clinics Throughout the Day
8:00am until 10:00pm
32 separate Clinics will be presented by Clinicians from as far away as Kentucky, Texas, Oregon, Utah, Arizona, Nevada and California. Every subject imaginable will be covered during this year's Convention.

Contest Room
9:00am until Noon and 2:00pm until 6:00pm
Contest room will be open for viewing all day.

Railette Program
9:30am until 4:00pm

Pahrump Layout Tour

8:00am until about 1:00pm
Ride behind Lou Banning as he takes you over his 3300' 1 1/2 inch gauge Backyard Railroad. Marvel at the 8 foot long Stamp Mill on his 1300' G Scale Garden Railroad. And enjoy your Sack Lunch (included) on his grassy back yard. We will also be stopping at a couple of other Pahrump Layouts.

Clinics Throughout the Day

24 separate Clinics will be presented by Clinicians from as far away as Kentucky and Texas. This year's clinics are Terrific.

Contest Room
9:00am until Noon and 1:00pm until 5:00pm
Contest room will be open for viewing all day.
Contest Room will be closed during Chinese Auction.

Chinese Auction
6:30pm until Finished
This Auction was made famous by the Cajon Division and was first introduced by Jan Wescott. It is always a fantastic hit at all of the Cajon Division's major meets.This year you can expect some great giveaways and a few really big surprises. We are expecting no less than 150 Items directly from the manufacturers for this event.

This is a 'Hands-On Make and Take' clinic being presented by Larry Cantral, owner of Sidetrack laser. It features the Santa Fe Depot in Colton, California and has been especially produced just for this Convention.

Layout Bus Tour

A tour for those who prefer bus tours to self guided tours. It will feature four of the premier layouts in the Las Vegas area.

Krafts with Kim Fowler

An Afternoon with Lynn Austin at his Home
Noon until 5:00pm
Lynn is well know for his Outstanding Models. He is innovative, intuitive, and can be whimsical in his modeling art. Arrive early enough and you can partake in a Free BBQ. You will be able to just relax and chat with your fellow modelers and take in Lynn's four separate layouts including the
Sedona & Pacific Railroad which is available throughout the week as self guided. All in all, a great way to relax just before the Awards Banquet

Awards Banquet with
Charlie Getz as the Guest Speaker

6:00pm until 9:00pm
There is always a lot going on at the Banquet. This year's Raffle winners will be announced and receive there prizes. A few quick speeches and then our Guest Speaker Charlie Getz. The evening will wrap up with the announcement of the
Contest Awards and 'Member of the Year' Division Awards.


Sunday


General Membership Meeting
8:00am until Conclusion in the Dallas C Room
You won't want to miss this meeting that recognizes the new Division Directors and Annual Report. There will be door prizes and a Grand Prize drawing to wrap up this Great Convention. (Last year the Grand Prize was an HO Spectrum 4-8-2, DCC Ready) This year it promises to be just as great. So Don't Miss this Final Day!
